We see the potential power and opportunity to increase social change by supporting connections at the intersections of issues and facilitating learning from different countries and cultures.

Across sectors and across geographies the need to create proactive narratives, social expectations, and systemic changes that center fairness, freedom, equity, justice, and peace is profound. We all need solutions we can work toward while we also work to effectively counter rising authoritarianism, hyperpolarization, the use of fear and othering, and attacks on information integrity. We see this combined work of building up just solutions while robustly pushing back on injustice in the work of our clients and the communities they serve every day.

We see the power of voice and its ability to activate change in the work of advocates, civil society organizations, dedicated public servants, artists, and advocates.

This 35th annual letter to stakeholders shares updates on our team and stories of our clients’ work and impact. As we begin our 36th year of social impact work, we are focused and committed to the shared mission of advancing public health, environmental sustainability, and social justice. In June of 1969, a group of LGBTQIA+ people in New York City rioted following a police raid of the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located in Greenwich Village. This was a turning point for the LGBTQIA+ community and marks one of the most significant events leading to the modern gay rights movement. The following year in June, organized demonstrations took place in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco to mark the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. As the years went on, additional cities in North America and Europe began to hold their own public demonstrations, eventually leading to what we know today as Pride Month. June ’22 marks 53 years since the Stonewall Riots.

We also want to lift up an important issue that will need allies and voices: protecting same-sex marriage. There are growing concerns that when Roe v. Wade is overturned, that same-sex marriage, which was legalized in 2015, will be next. We need to encourage our lawmakers to take all necessary steps to protect the right for any LGBTQIA+ person to marry. #loveislove

In Mexico, violence against cis and trans women is rising and hate speech continues to weaken collective action toward gender equity. With Equis Justicia and la Red Nacional de Juventudes Trans, ISMG created an intersectional feminist campaign called Sin Miedo A Ser and elevated the voices of those experiencing social and institutional discrimination. In partnership with 22 nonprofits and civil society organizations, we told diverse stories that convey hope, strength and complexity with a call for everyone to join together, overcome fear, move towards equity and realize a world of true gender equality.
